ConnecTendo lays out sixteen Nintendo games in a grid. Hidden inside are four categories of four titles. Your job is to find all four. Pick four games and tap Submit. If the category is right, it moves up as a bar. If it is wrong, it costs one of your four tries. If you are stuck, you can reveal the puzzle. It then counts as not solved.
After every miss a hint appears above the board. If three of the four games are right, it says "One away". Otherwise the hint tells you whether two of your games belong together. Sometimes it names a false lead. That could be a platform three of the games share. That platform is not wanted in this puzzle, though. The hints stay on screen. Tap one to mark its games on the board.
In the daily puzzle and in Unlimited Easy there is always a platform, a franchise, a genre and four consecutive release years. Unlimited Hard keeps the 4x4 board. Instead of the run it looks for one single release year. It also adds developers, sales figures, ratings, playtime, perspective, release and specials such as amiibo support. The connection types of the current puzzle are shown above the board. Tap one to see every category that can come up for it. Solving the daily puzzle also unlocks a secret mode: ???.
In the daily puzzle and in Unlimited Easy the four games come from four directly consecutive years. There is exactly one per year, for example 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. No game on the board is from the year before or the year after.
In Unlimited Hard all games of the category come from one single year. No other game on the board came out that year. None came out in the year before or after either. The first release always counts, in any region.
The real obstacle is the overlaps. Almost every Nintendo game fits several categories. A title can be a platformer and launch on Switch first. It may also belong to a major franchise. Four games that obviously belong together are therefore often a trap. One of them is needed in a different category.
The safest start is the category that leaves the least doubt.
ConnecTendo draws on the same hand-maintained database of more than 4,200 Nintendo titles as NintenDoku and Perfect Game. It covers games from Nintendo itself and Nintendo-exclusive titles from other publishers. Nintendo mobile and arcade games are in too. Every game is listed with its first release. Remakes and remasters get no separate entry.
The game is still in a testing phase. Feedback about categories is especially welcome, for example when one does not work or feels too easy. Write to me through the contact page or in the community on Discord.

ConnecTendo is a connections puzzle with Nintendo games. The board holds 16 titles. They split into four categories of four games each. Pick four games and check whether they belong together. You have four tries, and every miss costs one. There is a new daily puzzle every day. In Unlimited you can play as many puzzles as you like.
No. Every puzzle has exactly one valid split. Sometimes four titles seem to fit a category that is not wanted. Then one of them does not fit on a closer look. Or a fifth game on the board fits as well. Two categories can also cover exactly the same four games. The split is still the same.
After the daily puzzle the stats show how many players solved it. You also see with how many mistakes they did it and how often each category was found. Tap a category to see its games and details. It shows in which order it was solved and which games were most often mixed up with it. The recap on the overview shows the same for yesterday's puzzle.
Every category that was in one of your puzzles lands in the collection. If you find it yourself, it counts as found. Small challenges walk you through the game first. After that the growing collection unlocks rewards. They include the Google cloud backup and a profile that compares your connection types with all players.
No. No account, no app, no ads in the game. ConnecTendo runs in the browser. It uses the same database of more than 4,200 Nintendo games as NintenDoku and Perfect Game.
